RE: IRS issues
Got a friend who, several years ago, withdrew IRA money before retirement age and didn't bother paying the taxes on it. And he did this more than once. Also, has not filed income tax (small income) for the last 4 years. He's making a decent income in 2008 and will be filing April 2009.
He's scared to death to come forward to the IRS and clear this up as he figures he owes $200,000. I keep telling him it's not going to be pretty if they come after you. A retired accountant gave him advice to file in 2009 and just wait and see if anything happens. He says there's a chance the IRS will have let this one slip through the cracks, and there's a 10 year statute of limitations on this stuff.
What say you?
Unless, He was in a coma for the last 5 years, He deserbes every thing the IRS can dish out. He Lied and cheated. To benefit himself. What part of not filing income tax and the IRA penalty did he not get?
WHY do I have to pay my taxes on time if he does not?
RE: Travelling to Canada
JRBOB, your posts 1 and 2 when looked at together, make ZERO SENSE.
In post 1, you describe Americans being "victimized" becuase they LIED to Canada authorities. Your second post has absoulty no relation to your first post. I again restate my IHMO. Full of CRAP
RE: Travelling to Canada
With respect, your post is CRAP!!!
I have crossed the border maybe 200 times. They always ask do you have a firearm.
If you answer no, and they find one who's fault is that? what exactally do you expect them to do when YOU LIED TO THEM? JMHO
New one on me. Airbag dash light flashing code
Who Knew. Airbag dash light flashing 4 times, pause then 6 times.
Turns out that means a loose connection under the driver's seat.
Found the answer on the web, Fairly common for fords it sounds like.
In my case I'm sure it came from storing coach manual under driver's seat and stretching that connecter.
Unplugged and re-plugged all is well
RE: Phone book vs Internet
In looking at the results for "chiropractor Burien WA 98166," the first thing I would click on is the link that says, "11 reviews" next to the link for Collins Chiropractic. And after I read that, I'd go to the link for the 5 reviews for the next place.
On the other hand, I'll admit that my eye was caught by the first link over on the right since in addition to the name it said, "Named one of America's BEST Chiropractors." I'd want to know right away who did that naming: Was it a national professional organization, or some magazine, or his mom?
Well actually Joanne. not my mom, rather, consumer research council of America. Although I'm sure mom would agree. LOL. www.drronfulton.com (that's me not Mom)
Thanks Everyone for your help.
Here are my conclusions.
1) We for 30 years have been 90% plus referral. But that extra 10% really helps. Don't care if you are a Chiro, Dentist or an auto mechanic. People move die etc.
2)Phone book is pretty much dead
3) google has about 75% plus of the market. The others share the rest.
4) Thought about putting 30 years in practice, rather than, named one of America's Top Chiro's, But I think it makes me sound to old for the younger folks.
5) Not really trying to "grow the practice" just maintain it, and as I said that extra 10% helps.
6) your opinions on both my "tagline" and website are welcome.
7) Thanks All Doc
RE: Phone book vs Internet
OK, would you try a low budget experiment.
Go to Google
Search for chiropractor Burien
Or chiropractor Burien WA 98166
Which listings would you click on? Name 3
Please do not click on the link as that is a charge every time that happens 3 to 5 dollars per click
RE: Phone book vs Internet
THANKS for all the reply's, keep them coming please!!!!
2nd question,(1) Do you look at the links on the right hand side, of the google page, or only the ones in the center? And (2) And which one do you click first?
And (3) If you don't click on the right column at first do you generally get around to it on page 2 or 3?
Thank you again, this is a very big Help
Phone book vs Internet
Trying to decide where to put our advertising dollars.
Could you help out a little bit?
Let's say you wake up Monday morning with a tooth ache, and you need a dentist. And for some reason, maybe you are new to the area or you don't know anyone who goes to a dentist. (so no referral is possible)
1) Would you be more likely to search the Internet on the phonebook?
2) Which search engine would you use? Google, Yahoo, Msn ?
3) What is your age group? Under 40, 40 to 60, 60 plus?
Thanks for your time

RE: I saved at least $13K doing my own roof.........
I saved on one end, going into medical on the other end.
As a Spine Mechanic, I just love you, weekend warriors.
You guys keep me in business!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
RE: comparing rvs
24ft rear kitchen, with no bed obviously, equals the interior room of a 30 ft.
With respect to those who prefer a fixed bed for me no way. Way to cramped as I am also 6'2". DW sleeps on the broken down dinette, me on the cab over. Takes us 1 min 50 sec to break down and set up.
As for brand we have a coachmen, been good to us. But in reality all of these line built rigs are "close enough for government work" Coachmen, Winnie. Forest river, Fleetwood etc. All about the Same JMHO. The layout and size you want I believe should be the determining factor, not the brand. IMHO
RE: Un-doing a new RV Purchase (need advice)
Anything over $500. I too get buyers remorse. Can not sleep for a night or two.
Hopefully OP can truly afford the RV. Nothing worse than red lining the family budget, especially for a toy. Can be the beginning of the end.
I have learned, never ever impulse buy anything. Walk away, do the math think about what you want. Not what others tell you, you want. JMHO
RE: Is it over yet? Oil prices dropping like a rock.
Thought an article in the paper the other day was interesting. Basically the oil companies have not increased the dollar amount they are spending for exploration. If they thought oil was going to stay up would it not pay for them to spend more to explore? Maybe they know something we don't as to future price? Don't know
RE: Finally caught up to us, we cancelled a trip
Yep I agree with you FJ. IMHO crazy, stupid and cheap. How much longer do you think you will be able to do this ride before age catches up with you?
As for the principle part I get that but it is what it is.
20 years from now, yep could have gone done and seen, but that gas was so high etc..............JMHO
RE: Olive oil in tanks to prevent sticking?
Should probably clarify that last statement. I ah prefer the nozzle and hose for the occasional RV, emphasis on the RV part, tank cleaning. LOL
RE: Olive oil in tanks to prevent sticking?
I would think if the users "used olive oil. fabric softener or pinesol" as part of their diet the problem would be mute, or maybe not. I prefer a hose with a nozzle every now and then, JMHO
RE: Buying Used Class C
Just me, but with one kiddo left, (who wants to bring friends, I assume) and is more into camping than "road trips". Again I assume here. I would stay with a 5er.
Small class c's tend to best, IMHO for road trips for 2. Big advantage of a small c besides parks, is that you can park them most anywhere to see sights etc. JMHO
RE: Anyone got an adult child living at home?
JMHO, but I think all of us enable our kids. But if you enable them to much you ruin them. But on the other hand you want to help them get a start.
Your son is 24, married, no kids and both have good jobs. IMHO your flirting with the to much part.
My DD and GD moved home 18 months ago after bad relationship, she works part time and goes to school. Barely has enough money to keep her and daughter afloat. So charging rent? Could do it, but would be helping her on other bills so don't see how that would change the balance much.
Sometimes it seems easier to wean them off the bottle than to wean them off the money.
But I firmly believe as long as you keep giving they will keep taking. Good kid or not.
So I don't think maybe you're helping your son much. Because if you constantly bail them out they never learn and the money drain never ends. JMHO
But then again others will read my situation, and feel we are enabling our DD.
So who knows?
But my long term goal has always been, that they end up making wise choices, and become responsible adults. The question is how do we get them to that point.
Good luck. And I think a little blood letting now is much better than 30 years of enabling and a worthless kid in the end. JMHO
RE: One more bank gone.
How come its always the greedy banks fault what about the borrower don't they have any blame for getting loans they cant afford, I mean didn't they read the forms they put there signature on.I am not saying the banks don't take some blame but to me greedy people living above their means is the problem, you borrowed it now pay it back.I think you hit it on the nose.Because when you mention that the consumer was stupid or dumb or greedy, or subprime, or speculating around here, you get attacked.....it's easier to call the banks, mortgage companies, corporations and the executives greedy and rich. Oh, and don't forget the greedy government. Consumers that are in debt up to their ying-yangs, and being foreclosed on and sued because they can't pay their credit cards are smart.
I don't disagree with the borrowers responsibility.
But I would ask, If I showed up on your doorstep 3 years ago. When houses were booming. And wanted to buy your house. And you were carrying the note. Would you ask for money down, would you verify that I had a job, would you check my credit? And if you did none of those, how would you explain it to the DW, when I could not pay and your household economy went south. Which is, now what is happening to the country at large.
The sub prime banks did not follow rational business practices. That is why, IMHO they share the blame.
If the banks had followed good business practices in the first place we would not be where we are. JMHO
With respect. Those defenders of the banking practices and their contribution to this situation. Seem to be strangely silent as to my post. I would love to hear their opinion, as to the banks part in all this.
RE: One more bank gone.
SC, I think the problem comes down this. In your world and mine, we have a sense of responsibly and honor. I don't think about 20% of American's and bout the same for American businesses share the same attitude. And that breaks my heart, when they pull the rest of us down. JMHO
